Meditation & Wellness App

Many wellness apps rely on persistent notifications, gamification, and visual incentives to increase retention, even though these can conflict with the product's core purpose. This project took a different approach by creating a calm, unobtrusive experience that supports healthy habits without creating pressure.

The challenge

User feedback on competing wellness apps revealed that the pressure to maintain streaks, combined with constant notifications, often created anxiety instead of the sense of calm users were seeking.

Explore, Journal, Profile
Expanded app screens covering session discovery, practice journaling, profile progress, and calm preference settings.

The approach

I designed a minimalist interface with a restrained color palette, subtle animations, and notifications used sparingly. Streaks were reimagined as an optional indicator of progress, encouraging consistency without making users feel obligated to maintain them.

Explore List

Journal Calendar
Journal calendar showing practice consistency through a quiet, low-pressure streak pattern.

The outcome

Engagement data showed a higher session completion rate without reducing week-over-week retention, suggesting that a calmer experience can support long-term user engagement.
